Affordable Housing

The Affordable Housing Committee for At Risk / Homeless Veterans

This committee will identify American Legion Properties that are potentially convertible to affordable housing for Homeless / At Risk Veterans. The DEC's, County Commanders and Post Commanders would all be involved in the decision-making process from initial concept through project completion The Chairman would jump start the process and serve as a consultant on an as needed basis until the projects are completed. The Chairman would arrange for subject matter experts to assist in securing Government Grants, Architects, Philanthropies, Ambassadors from Business and industry, and other Foundations to support the mission.

.

The Chairman will solicit a Project Manager (DEC or his/her representative) to serve as our Local American Legion "on the Ground" Leaders / Representatives at all locations. These on the ground leaders will participate in regularly scheduled Zoom / TEAMS meetings with the Chairman. There will be two Committee Vice Chairmen / women that work directly with the Chairman.

Due to increased demand in building affordable housing for at risk Veterans the Committee Chair may consult with other organizations or individuals especially those who donate land or wish to repurpose existing governmental structures.
