About the Annual Pilgrimage

In 1932, The Locustwood Cemetery Association deeded 400 free gravesites to the American Legion, Department of New Jersey, for use by Legionnaires and their spouses. In the 87 years since then most of the 400 gravesites have been used or are reserved for use.

As part of the transfer of gravesites, the American Legion had committed to having an annual memorial service on the first Sunday after Memorial Day.
